Things are due for some major change, as I got my L1 work visa for the United States today. My family also got their L2 visa’s so now we can transfer to the US office and begin our adventure there.
This also explains why things have been quiet around here for the last few months as I have been busy doing the paperwork involved with the application, and getting things ready around home.
Lots of DIY to complete before we leave, which should be around January next year (2010).
I’m very excited, for both myself and my family, this will be a big change for us all, but should be very rewarding/mind expanding.
L1 huh? neat. 5 or 7 years? which part of the usa? We need more aussie + kiwi expats :) I’m on the east coast (green card). The usa is in a recession far more than australia is, things are in the can right now here, jobs are disappearing in the blink of an eye, lots of companies going under etc, its not all roses. even when its expensive here, petrol is still 1/4 the price of down home :)

L1 (intra company transfer), and it has a 7 year limit, but the first chunk is 3 years.

If things tank of the company side, the agreement has the clause they have to send me home, so I’m feeling ok about that.

Well I am actually a Trimble employee, but I’m working in the Caterpillar/Trimble joint-venture. While the J.V. is hosted in many Trimble and Caterpillar sites, the sub-team I’m on is Christchurch or Peoria.
